I've got half a dozen unpublished "high tech space opera" novels I'll sell you for the right price... actually scratch that I can't even recall where I put the damn things. No loss, they're all blatant Gundam: Stardust Memory/Robert Heinlein mash-ups.
But they were what prompted me to start making webcomics, that they were the alcohol-fueled delusions of my main character. (Vice the author's delusions.)
My own old space opera prose fiction works, on the other hand, were blatant Star Trek ripoffs.
One of the characters there was a Mary Sue-ish no-nonsense action girl called Selene Luna.
And yes, that is indeed were I recycled Wildebees' first name from. (She is a bit cobbled together out of several earlier character ideas, Frankenstein's monster-style.)
Hmmm. Drugs, illusions, or actually real? If those are actually real one may wonder why the Pentagon isn't bragging about having stuff like that and offering tuned-down versions of it on the world arms market.
